Registration is required by calling 1.866.990.VETS (1.866.990.8387) or registering online below.

Oral Cancer Screening

Physicians and nurses from MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper’s Head and Neck cancer program will provide a thorough examination of the oral cavity to identify any signs of cancer or tissue changes. Patients will be asked about their risk factors, be advised about the steps they can take to reduce their risk, and receive a printed copy of the screening findings and any recommendations for further studies.

Skin Cancer Screenings

Physicians from the Skin Cancer Program at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper will provide a comprehensive examination of the skin to identify signs of cancer. Patients will be asked about their risk factors, be advised about the steps they can take to reduce their risk, and receive a printed copy of the screening findings and recommendations for further studies.

Colorectal Cancer Screenings

MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper nurses will provide men and women who are 50 and older with a take-home kit which tests for blood in the stool. These kits can be mailed back to MD Anderson Cooper for analysis. Screening results will be mailed to participants. Participants that have “positive results” - studies that show a presence of blood in the stool - will need to have a follow-up colonoscopy. In addition to the take home test, nurses will review colorectal cancer risk factors (including family history) and advise participants about the steps they can take to reduce their risk.

Lung Cancer Screening Evaluation

Members of the MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper Lung Cancer Program will review lung cancer risk factors and determine if the participant is at high risk of developing lung cancer. Patients who meet the risk factor criteria will be offered the opportunity to schedule a screening study using a low dose CAT Scan. Eligibility for lung cancer screening is based on the participant's age and smoking history.

Participants must bring the invitation postcard and/or their Veterans ID with them to the event.

Free parking at the Three Cooper Garage.
