ACLS/BLS Renewal

The ACLS/BLS Instructor-led course is a 1 day course that renews and refreshes the importance of preventing cardiac arrest, high-performance teams, early and continuous high-quality CPR, systems of care, recognition and intervention of cardiopulmonary arrest, post-cardiac arrest care, acute dysrhythmias, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).

What does this course teach?

  • Basic life support skills for Adult, child and infant victims, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
  • Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Airway management
  • Related pharmacology
  • Management of ACS and stroke
  • Effective communication as a member and leader of a resuscitation team

ACLS/BLS is geared towards healthcare professionals who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies or personnel in emergency response. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years. 

Prerequisites

Participants must possess a current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) card and must be able to provider a copy of current card if reqested.

  • Review Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device, and use of an AED
  • Review Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
  • Review Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
  • Review Airway management
  • Review Related pharmacology
  • Complete precourse assessment test at ACLS Precourse Self-Assessment | AHA eLearning (heart.org) | Click “Launch This Course” and follow prompts | 84% or better is required

 

Students who successfully complete the ACLS/BLS Course  (including achieving a score of 84% or higher on the course exams) and the hands-on session will receive a ACLS Provider and BLS Provider course completion card (e-Card), valid for two years.

Cooper employees will also complete the requirements for BLS/CPR certification. If you are not a Cooper employee and also want to complete your BLS, please noted it in your registration. BLS is an additional $75.00
