Intended Audience:
The intended audience for this conference includes adult intensivists and cardiologists, especially trainees and early practicing physicians. Other physicians and health professionals with an educational need or interest in this topic may also attend.

Overall Learner Objectives:

• Explain the indications, contraindications, and physiological considerations of various mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices commonly used to support patients in cardiogenic shock and device or devices appropriate for specific clinical circumstances.
• Develop an approach to detect and troubleshoot malfunctioning and malpositioning of various mechanical circulatory support (MCS) devices commonly used to support patients in cardiogenic shock.
• Interpret the literature and best practices for managing patients with cardiogenic shock and determine exit strategies and liberation from mechanical circulatory devices.
• Describe best practices and available literature through case-based discussion for the use of anti-coagulation, sedation/analgesia, and antimicrobials in patients requiring mechanical circulatory support (MCS).

Course faculty will include cardiac critical care intensivists, cardiac surgeons, interventional cardiologist, cardiology-heart failure specialist, perfusionist, and pharmacists.
