Cancer Survivorship and the Role of Genetics and Genomics


Please join our MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper expert Kathryn Zarnawski MGC, CGC, Certified Genetic Counselor as she discusses Genetics/Genomics and why it's essential to the cancer survivor.

This free online discussion will address the following:

  • Overview of cancer genetics and hereditary cancer
  • Types of genetic testing/Results of genetic testing
  • Common hereditary cancer syndromes/Case examples
  • “Current Events” in cancer genetics

This one-hour presentation will include a Q&A session. We look forward to you participating in this lively informal discussion sponsored by the Wellness After Cancer Survivorship program at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper.

Kathryn Zarnawski, MGC, CGC is a Licensed, Certified Genetic Counselor at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. She graduated from the University of Maryland School of Medicine with a Master’s in Genetic Counseling in 2012. She has been with Cooper for almost 3 years and has been practicing as a clinical cancer counselor for more than 10 years.

Our Wellness After Cancer Survivorship Program addresses the physical, psychological, and educational needs of patients who have completed treatment. It also focuses on identifying, preventing, and controlling any long-term and late effects associated with cancer and its treatment.
