How to Decrease Your Risk for Colon Cancer
Colorectal cancer is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in both men and women in the United States. Cooper University Health Care is committed to the national initiative of getting 80% of adults aged 45 and older regularly screened for colorectal cancer.
Join our MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper experts Phyllis Duda, APN, Catlin Devlin, RD, and Ashlee Brown, MHA, BSW as they discuss how to reduce your risk of colon cancer.
Our online discussion will address the following:
- What is colon cancer; and who can get it?
- What are the risk factors for colorectal cancer?
- What can you do to reduce the risks?
- Promoting a healthy diet; foods to eat and foods to avoid
- Various screening tests available for colorectal cancer
- Information on getting screened if you are uninsured or underinsured through Screen NJ
About the presenters:
Phyllis Duda, APN is an Advanced Practice Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. She has been an Oncology Nurse Practitioner for 21 years, practicing at MD Anderson Cooper for the last 7 years. Her specialties include Breast Cancers and Genitourinary Cancers however has experience in the treatment of all solid malignancies.
Caitlyn Devlin, RD has been a practicing Registered Dietitian since 2017. She currently works as an Outpatient Dietitian at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper, and previously worked as an Inpatient Clinical Dietitian at Cooper University Hospital.
Ashlee Brown, MHA, BSW is a Population Health Advisor with the Camden County Cancer Screening Project at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper University Health Care. Ashlee is a health and human services advocate who has dedicated her professional career to improving access to quality and equitable health care, to disenfranchised populations.
