Lung Cancer Screening & Prevention: Early Detection is Key
This November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month and the Great American Smokeout sponsored by the American Cancer Society is on November 18, 2021. The Wellness After Cancer Survivorship Program at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper offers educational programs for the enrichment of the community.
Join MD Anderson at Cooper Hematology/Medical Oncology physician Polina Khrizman MD, Adrianne Barbara Geigges RMA, CTTS, and Plyshette Wiggins MPH for an online presentation:
The discussion will include:
- Lung Cancer: Diagnosis and New treatment options (General overview)
- Ways to prevent lung cancer – lung cancer risks and prevention
- Lung Screening Program at Cooper University Health Care
- Smoking cessation and how this can help
- Screen NJ: coverage for those uninsured and underinsured
This one-hour program will include a Q&A session at the end of the presentation. We look forward to your participation.

About the Presenters:
Polina Khrizman, MD is a Hematologist/Medical Oncologist and the Lung and Sarcoma Program Lead Physician at MD Anderson Cancer Center at Cooper. She is also an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Cooper Medical School at Rowan University. Dr. Khrizman received her medical degree from the University of Missouri, and her undergraduate/fellowship training was at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare in Evanston IL. Her fellowship training was in Chicago at Northwestern Memorial Hospital. She has been a valued member of the cancer team for 10 years.
Adrianne Barbara Geigges is a Registered Medical Assistant, a Lung Cancer Screening Navigator, and Certified Tobacco Treatment Specialist. She was trained as a tobacco treatment specialist at MD Anderson in Houston Texas and has coordinated our lung cancer screening clinic for the past four years.
Plyshette Wiggins, MPH is the Health Equity Program Coordinator at the Camden County Cancer Screening Project. Plyshette has over 20 years of public health experience, working at all levels of government, including the CDC in Atlanta, GA and varying local and national non-profit organizations, such as the American Cancer Society. Plyshette is passionate about cancer prevention and control programs, particularly for uninsured, underinsured, and minority populations.
