2022 Advanced Practice Provider Symposium
Cooper University Health Care's Advanced Practice Provider (APP) Symposium is designed to educate APPs on timely topics relevant to clinical practice. Our APP speakers are experts in their fields and have designed a curriculum to discuss the latest updates and practice guidelines in diverse areas including substance use disorder, hematology, vascular disease, COVID-19, social determinants of health and more. This educational opportunity offers continuing education credits and is a great opportunity for both students and APPs working in the ambulatory or hospital setting.

Continuing Education:
• At completion of the symposium participants will verbalize understanding and incorporation of evidence-based interventions into current clinical practice.
• This seminar is approved for 5.5 Continuing Education credits (CE) and Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits through the American Academy of Physician Assistants and the NJ State Nurses Association. The credits will be awarded upon attendance for the entire conference and completion of the evaluation form.
• There are no conflicts of interest identified for the planners, presenters, faculty, authors or content reviewers.
• Cooper University Health Care is approved as a provider of nursing continuing professional development by the New Jersey State Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. P 101-11/2021.

Schoch, PhD, RNC, IBCLC, CCE, CPST Baby Friendly - Supporting Infant Feeding Objectives: • Identify two benefits of breastfeeding for a mother and two benefits of breastmilk for a baby. • List two evidence based activities that support exclusive breastfeeding during the postpartum period. • Understand the Ten Steps to Supporting Successful Breastfeeding as defined by Baby Friendly USA. 11 a.m. - 12 noon Ivette Duncan, MSN, CPNP, PMHNP-BC, CMI-S Substance Use Disorders: Considerations along the Lifespan Objectives: • Discuss age appropriate considerations for the assessment and pharmacologic management of substance use disorders. • Review commonly co-occurring mental illnesses that affect the management of SUDs in the target age groups: pediatrics, maternal health, geriatrics. 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Nora Vizzachero, DNP, APN Marijuana in Children: A Review of the Evidence Objectives: • Become familiar with the endocannabinoid system. • Become familiar with the active components of marijuana. • Review evidence based uses for marijuana products in children. • Review risks of marijuana use in children including recreational use and accidental ingestion. |
